Hello! I’m Aurora Grace, a passionate author and lifelong lover of art. I live in the heart of New York City, and my heartbeat echoes the rhythm of this lively metropolis. With a deep-rooted love for creative expression, I specialize in writing about the arts – with an emphasis on the beautiful and versatile art form of quilting.
Born in a small town outside Boston, the art bug bit me early in life. I was always inspired by the vibrant, multicolored quilts my grandmother used to create. Those fond childhood memories led me to pursue my education in art at the esteemed Rhode Island School of Design.
Burrowing my way into the world of fiber arts, I soon discovered a burgeoning interest in the technological advances sweeping the world of quilting. I began to delve into the rise of automated quilting, particularly computer-controlled quilting. This unique intersection of tradition and technology fascinated me and became the core subject for many of my writings published globally in journals, online art forums, and magazines.
My second book, “Quilting 2.0 – Bridging Tradition and Technology”, remains a favorite amongst quilt enthusiasts and technologists alike. This book chronicles the journey of quilting from the hands of our grandmothers to intricate machinery, offering a unique perspective on where technology and art intertwine.
When I’m not caught up in my writing, I can be found under the meandering shadows of NYC’s famous Guggenheim Museum, where I draw inspiration or organize art-and-tech workshops. I also have a fondness for artisan coffee shops around the city, where I often pen my thoughts accompanied by a strong flat white and a slice of New York Cheesecake.
As for my family life, I live with my charming husband, a software developer, and our two adorable Maine Coon cats, Picasso and Monet. Our stimulating discussions about technology and art often lead to breakthrough ideas, some of which found their way into my writing.
Writing and quilting, to me, are like the warp and weft of fabric, intersecting and creating a vibrant tapestry of life. With the pulsating NYC skyline forming a backdrop, I weave words together just like threads in a quilt—each piece carrying a part of me, my experiences, and my love for art. I invite you on this journey to explore the evolving world of quilting and the arts, where tradition meets innovation, and the old dances with the new.
