Hello, my name is Lauren Madison and I am a passionate quilter living in the warm and welcoming city of Dallas, Texas. My journey with quilting began in the vibrant and historical city of Sevilla, Spain, where I was born and raised. The colors, patterns, and textures of this beautiful city have always been a vibrant part of my overall inspiration as I bring to life amazing quilt designs.
My passion for quilting was ignited by my grandmother. She was a master quilter, meticulously crafting pieces with a unique Spanish flair. Her guidance and teaching allowed me to embrace and fall in love with the traditional Spanish style of quilting. I still vividly remember the hours I spent observing her nimble fingers diligently working the fabric and thread together, creating stunning pieces of art.
When I moved to the United States for college, I became interested in American styles of quilting. I attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA, where I was enthralled by the variety and imagination hidden in every piece. The experience of learning and bringing together Spanish and American styles has been an incredible journey. It has allowed me to synthesize two beautiful traditions into a style that is distinctly my own.
When I’m not quilting, I spend my time with my husband and our three beautiful children in the heart of Dallas. Our home is filled with love, life, and of course, quilts. We also have a little dog named Patches – named by my kids because he loves to snuggle in the quilt scraps!
In my free time, beside loving to explore the local food scene, I also love to paint – an additional creative outlet that gives a different perspective to my fabric work. It is the finer details of everyday life that constantly inspire my designs.
My quilting has become more than just a hobby, it’s a way of life. It brings warmth, not just in a physical sense, but in an emotional one too, filling up my home and life with love and creativity. I hope through my work, I can connect, inspire and taught others the beauty and joy of quilting.
